Director, Strings & Kindermusik Educator
More about BTR:
BTR was established in 2006 as Bach to Rock Music Studios. Through self discovery BTR Performing Arts
Academy was born. With BTR representing Bach to Rock, it has also taken on a new meaning. Believe,
Transform, Rise. This is now the basis for our belief system within our Academy.
When commencing lessons at BTR, your teacher will engage with you and your child to discover your child’s
goals, current level of ability, and interests. From here our teachers will begin to structure a path to allow your
child to believe in their abilities, work towards their goals and reach their full potential.
This is supported by our Believe, Transform and Rise Concert series each year, where your child is nurtured,
their resilience is strengthened and self-belief is manifested through the opportunity to perform and realise what
true potential lies inside of them.

Christine was born in Brisbane, and grew up in a family where music was valued. Christine initially taught
herself to play "by ear", followed by tuition with a family friend. Christine would often come home from school in
Year One, and attempt to play the songs they had sung in class during the day. She went on with formal piano
lessons until her mid-teens.
Christine graduated as a Primary School Teacher in 1976 and used her musical skills in a variety of settings.
Her roles have included-accompanist, assistant with preparation of choirs and recorder ensembles, and as a
classroom teacher, Christine often prepared performance items with her classes.
During her 23 years in the Bundaberg area, Christine became motivated to build on her earlier learning, and she resumed piano lessons with a more serious approach. With much revisiting of Theory and Scales, new AMEB
Syllabus works, and hours of practice per week, Christine completed her Practical exams, and is now working
towards her Certificate in Performance.
Christine is also part of the Music Ministry at St James Church, Bargara. Since October, 2012, Christine has enjoyed teaching piano at BTR, in a family-like environment, with students
ranging in age from approximately school entry to mature adults. Christine also teaches piano at St Luke’s
Anglican School, and she has a home studio.
As Christine has experienced both levels of learning - for exam outcomes and for enjoyment - she understands
that individual differences in students will influence the type of tuition that is most appropriate. She believes in
adapting lessons to the needs of the students, and she wants her students to feel a sense of pride in their
